2004 reg 2.0 DTI Timing Chain or belt??

Hello there guys, Sorry to trouble you with this silly question but I just bought a Vectra 2004 2.0 DTI. This is the first time I owned a Vauxhall and I am a bit confused. I would like to know weather my car has a timing chain or a belt. Its on 90.000 miles at the minute. I also would like to know that if it has a chain how to maintain it or if it has a belt what is the recommended mileage to replace the belt.

Chain regarding replacement some say near 100 but ive always been told they can last as long as the engine,signs of replacement can be rattling of the pre tensioners.
Mines on 159,000 and im not 100% sure when it was done but if i hear any rattles from the chain ill get it done but if not ill continue to drive

See above mate i edited post all though id wait to see what everyone else has to say as thats just my opinion the Dti's are quite bullet proof tbh

Chains usually rattle before they break, so if it starts rattling you know what to do. Same principle applies to 2.0T and 2.2 petrols.

Surely it would be hard to hear the rattle, being that its a diesel engine?

Yep agree with that, chains normally give decent warning before letting go

A chain rattle sounds different to diesel clatter

The chains are pretty bullet proof by all accounts on the DTi's.
