Arrow OIL: Fully Synthetic or Semi Synthetic?

    Hi there,

Just been to get some Oil for a change on weekend and they only had Semi-Synthetic in 5w30. The current oil I have in the engine is Fully Synthetic.

What is the difference between these two? What should I go for?

    Thanks

Didnt think they did 5/30 in semi synthetic.
10/40 is the semi they use.
I use 10/40 semi in my 2.2 dti and its no problem but i do change the
    oil every 5000 miles thou.
And its alot cheaper than 5/30 fully synthetic.

    Taken from here: http://www.mobil.com/USA-English/Mot...il_1_FAQs.aspx

What's the difference between a fully synthetic and a synthetic blend motor oil?
All motor oils are made up of base oils and additives. In general, fully synthetic motor oils contain non-conventional, high-performance fluids. Semi-synthetic oils (also called "blends") usually use a small percentage of non-conventional, high-performance fluids in combination with conventional base oil.

Semi will be fine in yours matey judging by the age of it, its probably done some yards now so there's no point wasting money on expensive oil when semi synthetic is perfectly adequate, you could have saved even more and bought 10w/40 semi synthetic for it, still would have done the job perfectly well.

Local dealer quoted me £35 for 5 litres last week........so I went to Tesco's and bought 5 x 2Lts of Vaux spec Magnatec 1/2 price at £8.49 per 2L - they wanted £24 for 4Lts.

Offer on until 13th July. If it says £17, just get it price checked.
