Exclamation Creaking from Underside of car

Vectra 1.8 Design O6 Plate 33k Miles (approx)

    Hi All
Recently I have a little issue with the Vectra, there appears to be a creaking noise coming from somewhere underneath the car or from around the passenger area.

I have monitored it a bit, and it only really happens when the car has warmed up, when setting off 1st thing no problem its more noticeable when going over a speed bump or general bumps in the road when driving slowly.

In a supermarket car park I pressed down on the passenger side wing and bounced the car a bit and the creaking was noticeable, left the car park and the creaking/groaning had gone.

But now its come back, I donít think that a spring has snapped as Iíve not heard anything go as we had the car out all day prior to me 1st hearing the noise and the car sits fine and handles and drives perfectly well.

I donít have any facilities to get the car jacked up but I was wondering if anyone could shed any light.

    Many Thanks

Hi many thanks for your reply
I had a quick look at the shocker (what i thought was it) and there is no visible oil on the main shocker body (from what i can see)

Also if I do get a trolly Jack where is the correct jacking point, as i dont want to damage the sill a mate of mine suggested the suspension arm as thats how he gets his Astra up, but ive heard on internet forums not to do this.

Find the slot where the standard car jack goes, then next to that find flat section of chassis - that's where you can put the trolley jack cup.

not on the suspension arm!.... as said above or look on the sill and there should be an arrow pointing to the jacking point and it usually has notches out of it aswell....

Thanks all for the replys and information

My mate is going to lend me a trolly jack so I can get the wheel off, and look at the shockers (as suggested above) and inspect properly although im a little bit nervous about using a trolly jack as ive never really used one before, and I dont want to damage my car.
I also want to check and lubricate the rad mounts, on the Facelifts was this still a issue, and can someone advise me on where to look and how to lubricate thanks.

    Thanks in Advance

Mine has exactly the same sympton on the LH front. If you push down on the wing the creaking is there and only when the car has been driven for a little while. Its there when slowly moving in traffic, disappears under braking and when driving above 30mph.
Garage has it booked in for Wednesday but last week couldn't find anything wrong, springs on both sides are ok, drop links in good order. I did hit a large pothole in a garge filling station about 4 weeks ago - i wonder if thats caused this problem.

Thats exactly the same symptoms more or less as mine, however I havent dropped it down any large potholes recently and certainly not on the day it started - i might be brave and get a trollyjack underneath and have a look but i hope its not serious

Will let you know how I get on, mines also an 06 albeit its an 1.8 VVT SRi. The suspension is quite stiff on these so trying to do a bounce test can be a challenge.
As for the pot hole, well it was actually a sunken drain as you exit the Morrisons filling station at Consett. I was only driving slowly but car went with a canny bang as it hit the drop.
Apart from this issue car is behaving perfectly.
