    Default 1.9 CDTi oil filter

Hello, I feel just a little daft having to ask this question, but how on earth do I remove the oli filter from my 06 1.9 CDTi?? I think I've found it, right underneath, netx to the sump and very well hidden just over the exhaust so that it is almost impossible to get at! Don't you just love 'em when they do that? I mean, I can't get in to get a spanner to the large hex nut thingy. Is there a special tool for the job, or do I need to find myself a mate who is double jointed, or what? I have done a forum search but can't seem to find anyone else having this same problem. The last Vec C I had was a 2.2 petrol and it was a breeze on that; easiest oil filer I've ever changed! But this one is a real bar steward. Any suggestsions (apart from re-buying my old 2.2)?

it's just a pain to do, i use a 10" adjustable spanner, put your hand down behind the engine from the top to undo it - you can just gets in. Give the exhaust a good clean after changing the filter as it will be covered in oil.

    Cheers

    Default filter fun

John, thanks for that. Well at least you have confirmed that I've found the right thing. Is is such a s*d to get to I was beginning to wonder! I don't think they could have put it in a worse place if they had tried, and my guess is taht they did! Yes I tried a large adjustable spanner, but had the hardest of time getting enough room to use it. I might try buying a smaller handled one. Or maybe a huge socket might do it if they make them big enough. Glad to take any more ideas if anyone has some??

Attack it from above with a 32mm socket and ratchet, you can get much more of a swing on it, as you undo it oil will slowly filter out of the overflow/release nozzle.. Once its drained then get underneath and undo the last few turns by hand
