Sounds familiar, try searching the forum a bit if you have time.

Make sure you are sitting down when searching.

Sounds like the inlet manifold is clogged up and the swirls (as a result) have blocked which pops the bar off (swirl no3 is the controller) - to fix properly it really needs a new inlet manifold, actuator and all ancillaries - a new EGR valve is highly recommended too (as this will have been the major contributor in the fault happening in the first place).

The job can cost anything between £600 and £1200 dependant on where you go. Some have saved a bit by sourcing the parts themselves and getting a garage to fit - but it is a labour intensive job unfortunately.

I know you won't want to hear this but alot on here will feel your pain as we've been through it (mine was done last year).

You have the 150 engine so you will find the egr bolted to the right end of the inlet manifold as you stand looking at the engine from the front of the car. the valve has 4 fixings holding it to the manifold with a furter 2 holding a pipe under it. Watch you dont lose the gaskets.

    Oops too late.
