Its held on by like a spline, that grips the gear stick.
so any eay to stop the up/down movement of about 2 mil ,or tighten or remove
I believe once they start to move they need replacing or araldite into place but good excuse now for a Richbrook irmi or VXR one
Mine went like that when it got warm, clicking everytime i layed my hand on it. I pulled it and it came off and then i put it back over and hammered it on with my hand and its fine now.
so it just pulls off i will give that a try thanks
I had this happen to me and i hammered it back on but it got to the point where the gear knob just fell of so got it replaced, under warranty but I believe it is about 200 quid for the part as it is a big block as the top cant just be replaced.
Mine started doing this few days ago. Just prized plastic top off the knob with small screwdriver and wellied inside with hammer and old screwdriver. Worked a treat. My knob is now secure
Mine came off and put some cardboard around the stick and a hammer does wounders still on 2 years ago.
By coincidence... my wife just came in and presented me with our gear knob - it came off in her hand this morning out in the traffic! She put it back on, but it later JUMPED off from the spring underneath and went UNDER HER FEET!!!
It's just a tapered splined shaft, nothing else, no thread no nothing - intuitively silly design - attached with a hammer(?!?). Where do these designers go to school...? Is this the first car that's had a gear knob?
