These kits effectively fit in place of the standard bulb.

You remove your normal bulb... assemble the kit (one kit for each side).... fit the newly supplied HID lamp into the hole left by the old bulb (using the modified metal clip supplied).... then the old wiring plugs into the ballast unit of the kit (metal box usually about 4x6 in roughly).

In reality there's a couple of other minor bits to do but the whole job from opening the box to switching on new lights seems to take most on here about 1 hour tops.

The kit you get is for one car complete -

    1 ballast unit per side
    1 lamp per side
1 warning canceller per side (if specified)
1 modified lamp retainer per side

Possibly some cable ties and ballast mounting brackets.

The standard kits where the lamp is shown as H7 fit to a normal Vx/Op/Holden vectra, both pre and post facelift.
The normal dipped beam part of the headlamp unit is mounted in a projector unit - that's the bit with a whacking great magnifying glass on the front of it.
You can get kits/lamps ofr non reflector units, they are called H7R but I'm 99.9% sure all Vectras dipped beam units are housed in projector units.

Many people use the terms 'HID' and 'Xenon' to mean the same thing.... but to be correct, you can get 'normal' headlamp bulbs filled with either halogen gas or xenon gas - both are equally pathetic when compared to an HID system.
