    Default Hello Group......

New to the Vectra scene, and already found a wealth of knowledge here that shut Mr Arnold Clark up.......

Just bought a 2008 (57) 1.9 CDTI [150] with a genuine 26k miles on it... Everything is ok with the exception of the AC not working.

Not that it really matters that much in Scotland, but believe it or not we have had some sunshine over the past few weeks -and it would really be nice to have the car cooled..... But alas.... the AC was goosed.

Arnold Clark's said the AC was empty and that it needed a re-charge... But I retorted that Vectra-c.com said that it should only deplete 10% per year - and that there must be a leak in the system.. No No No said the service manager - "leave it to the experts"

1 re-charge later - it lasted two days and as you would have guessed... it was empty again...

Booked in for second visit when it was discovered that there was a hole in the condenser..

Third visit is next week to have new condenser fitted...
So keep your fingers crossed for me that there is only one hole in the entire system, and the so-called experts fit it correctly.....

I know where I will be heading for my expert advice in future...

No doubt I will be picking your brains real soon...
    Jock

    Welcome.

Regardless of the weather, are you using the AC regularly? It should be run at least once a fortnight (yes, even throughout the whole of winter) for 10 mins or so to prevent the rubber seals from drying out which can then lead to the gas escaping.

Also some people think AC is just for cooling the car; it's not. Used in conjunction with the heater it can make a very efficient demister.
