    Default 10 month INSP alert

    Hi all

My vectra 58 1.9td 16v after just 10000 miles and 9 months has come up with INSP. They serviced it when i bought it, to say the garage ignored the network Q checks would be understatement. When i picked the car up i could feel the engine was sluggish until it warmed it, since April this hasn't been a problem (warmer weather i'm guessing). As the garage was a bit of a trod and I had already threatened to take them to court over a steering issue, being a bit sluggish when cold seemed fairly minor. I can't help but think now they just stuffed any old oil in, hence why its flagging for a service early. I do short trips to work, but it sees the motorway at least twice a week if not more.

What are your thoughts on the early INSP?

This is the second vectra i've owened, my last 1.9td, and never it never happend with that one, so can't be my driving or the type of journey's.

    Many thanks

if the INSP light wasnt on when they serviced it last - I bet they didnt use TECH II to reset the counters - hence it has come up early.

You can reset it yourself if you are happy that its not due.

Mate it just works off the speedo reading and is not part of the diagnostic system just a reminder if you press and hold the speedo reset push button whilst turning on the ignition and hold it for 10 seconds it will be reset nothing to worry about

If your INSP has come after 10,000 miles that seems right to me, Vauxhall droped the 20,000 service interval as it was to long. seems the garage has set it to come on after 10,000 miles which I would say is correct.

Seems someone forgot to tell their website writer.

    http://www.vauxhall.co.uk/vaux/owner...do?method=view

    2006 onwards Petrol / Diesel

Main (Fixed) Service Interval:- 2 years / 40,000 miles
    Interim Service Interval:- 1 year / 20,000miles

    ie:-

    yrs 1, 3, 5, 7, etc, it's an Interim Service Interval
    yrs 2, 4, 6, 8, etc it's a Main (Fixed) Service Interval

In short, the service interval is annually or 20,000 miles (whichever comes first)

Not quite right. They dropped the ECOFlex service which was up to 2 years or 20,000 miles (30,000 for diesels) and the exact point at which the car indicated a service was due was based on driving style etc, and kept the ECOService schedule as the only option - straightforward 20,000 miles (petrol and diesels) or 12 months, whichever comes sooner - so the OP's service light shouldn't be coming on after 10K/9 months.

In fact on the later models the ECOFlex was dropped and they all came with the ECOService schedule.

Yep, that tallies up with what I said above - service is due every 12 months or 20,000 miles, whichever is sooner.

I was under the impression that the 1.9cdti's with a dpf were 10k intervals? But not all years?
I can't check on the VX website as it just hangs for me
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

YES Big DAVE and Duncan you are of course both right, BUT most good garages seem to set the service at 10,000 miles or one year which ever comes the sooner,I was reading a very good artical on oil and oil filters, it seems its the filter that get cloged before the oil has had its life,

They were, but didn't they (Vx) then change their minds again about that? I basically lost track! lol

Oh absolutely! I'd never have the oil in my car for 20K miles. I change mine every 10K/6 months or thereabouts on top of the normal servicing schedule. I was just saying that the Vx schedule is 20K/12 months and I didn't think the service indicator could be changed to a 10K schedule.

    EDIT: Penny's just dropped!

If that was still the case on a 58 model then that would, of course, explain the light on at 10K on his car given the engine. Although to have a DPF, and being a Vectra, it would need to be an estate wouldn't it?
