    Mileage : lots !

    Default Where's the hidden switch....?

OK - GM must have fitted some kind of radio controlled switch in my Vectra.

A few weeks ago, I got a call from the dealer saying, you service is due soon, would you like to book it in.
Next day the service light comes on - 750 miles short of the interval on mileage.

Now, after 35000 faultless miles, and 24 days out of warranty, either a plug or coil pack has gone ( codes 0170 & 0301 )

They should give you a goodwill gesture because of the low mileage and only just out of warranty.

Should is a massive word with the motoring manufacturers these days.....
they need full dealer history before they will entertain ANY out of warranty claims to show that you have been faithful to them BEFORE they will return the favour

Yeah - I had an MOT done locally just before the warrenty ran out. When it passed, and my friendly local mechanic checked her over, I then serviced it myself, so I've almost certainly shot myself in the foot for any goodwill.

Still, another set of plugs and a genuine Delphi coil pack is only £100 or so, and Vauxhall will probably charge me that for lifting the bonnet and connecting a test set

All in, I saved £150 on the service, so I mustn't grumble really, and thanks to this site I quickly found how to read the codes and get the bits on order.
