    Default Cherished Numberplates.... Help..

After the DVLA sticking a 10 inch rod up by bum on my last numberplate I need a bit of information to make sure the same doesn't happen again.

About to buy a numberplate privately that is currently on a retention certificate. To put this on my car I have been told there is a £25 fee to cover owner transfer and car transfer.

Is this correct or am I likely to face more charges?

I want another private plate but don't want a shafting again!!

    Ta very much

We had a plate on retention. We thought we'd put it on my car as she was between cars. As it was in her name, they wanted £25 to add my name to the retention and £25 to transfer it to my car. We retained it for another year!

My son sold his car 4weeks ago and he had the number changed back to the original with his PP put on, I assume, retension but that cost him £120 with nothing to pay when he puts it on his new car

Except the DVLA "we hate you" fee of whatever they feel like to apply to any transaction! Hehe

Nah, I'm kidding. If you're not named on the certificate then you need to pay £25 to have yourself listed as a nominee. Once that's done you hand in the certificate and your car documents and there should be no further cost. The extra £25 comes in if the plate is retained for over a year and needs renewing.
