    Default Safe guard

I know there has been a recent thread of a similar topic but I have a slightly different problem.
Recently i have found the car alarm going off randomly and when entering the car and turning on the ignition it comes up 'check safeguard'.
I can stop this happening by pressing the button on the dash before exiting the car then alarming it in the normal way with the fob.
Is there a simple fix for this or will I have go go down the normal route of eliminating hundreds of possible faults?
    Cheers

Start with the fuses in the boot, always good to start with fuses,

Big 30 amp one in the left hand side, can you think of anything you have done to start the fault or was it just there

Since I fitted a traction control switch a couple of days ago on my 2004 elite estate I also have the "check safe guard" message every time I switch on the ignition.
I'll check error codes a fuses at the weekend but could there possibly be a connection with me fitting this new switch?
    .

    Thanks,
    Dave
