Default BMW M3 driver playing "hide and seek"...

    Hi all,

Thought I'd share a few pics I took the other day, a couple of minutes after a guy stuffed his M3 into the undergrowth, just up the road from me. I arrived from the same direction just as the driver and his passenger were running off. They must have both climbed out of the driver's side and would have had to clamber through brambles and stingers.

Click the thumbnails for larger pics (max allowed by uploader):

    1) Looking back towards the bend, tyre marks visible cutting across the road.
    2) Tyre marks disappearing into the undergrowth, taken a couple of saplings out.
    3) Ah ha, found you!
    4) Now, I don't believe you wanted to do that!

I called the police in case it had been nicked but when they arrived they checked the car and said it was locked, so unlikely. Occupants just legging it because they were embarassed/shocked (or drunk!). I was a bit unsure how he'd managed it to begin with - span off on the right of a right-hand bend, less than 100m from a dual carriageway junction. Then I remembered that Beamers are RWD and reckon he'd come round the corner, put his foot down too hard, lost the back end and span c/wise into the undergrowth. Or, in the words of the responding officer - "he was driving like a tw4t".

There were two officers (1 male, 1 female), who argued about who would climb into the undergrowth to check the rear plate (the front plate was under the car or in the undergrowth somewhere). After some discussion the bloke thought to climb on the bonnet to look at the tax disc to get the reg, to which the female quipped "that's why he gets paid more than me!"

With the damage to the front bumper, the battery had been ripped out and was about 25m back up the curb. Front wheels mullered, both wing mirrors smashed and hanging off, bonnet dented and the back O/S wheel about 30° out of alignment. I'd be amazed if it's not written off. I wonder how long he'd had it?!

BMW's have the battery in the boot

Are they sure the battery belonged to that car?

Some folk should learn to drive these things before they buy em

Ah, I thought that a little odd! I guess that had been previously discarded in the undergrowth and uncovered during the fly-by.

Was it using the VXRs TC system?

Yes the batteries in the boot on most 3 series. It may have been nicked and not reported but probably a **** of an owner.

A bloke I know on the estate (and told about it) went to have a look the next morning. There were (presumeably the same) two guys looking sheepish sat opposite in another car and a tow truck turned up a couple of minutes later. I bet he'd not had it long and was showing off to his mate. Expensive trick, that one.
