    Default Playstation Network New T&C

Have you read the new T&C's they are making you sign today?

Seems heavily geared towards charging for its services with renewal subscriptions?

Any ideas or news on this?

Like most T&C's - I just accepted it without reading (but I'm not an online user so sounds like it won't affect me).

Transform the way you use PlayStation Network with PlayStation Plus.

A new premium subscription service is coming to PlayStation Network, bringing you extra value and exclusive services straight into your home - welcome to PlayStation Plus.

Available from 29 June 2010 and accessible via your PlayStation 3 when connected to PlayStation Network, PlayStation Plus gives you the option to purchase a membership which expands and enhances your experience for the small fee of €14.99/£11.99 for 90 days, or €49.99/£39.99 for the whole year.

What do you get for your money? Well, PlayStation Plus features include access to loads of content, such as games, game add-ons, avatars and dynamic themes - all at no extra cost. On top of this, members will get exclusive discounts on PlayStation Store each month and even early access to selected game beta trials and demos before anyone else.

As a PlayStation Plus member you will also have access to some new PSN features designed to enhance your gaming experience. Firstly, you will be able to try games before you buy them in a whole new way each month. Full Game Trial allows you to download selected games in full and play them for a limited period of time before you decide if you want to buy them. Then if you do buy them, your progress and the trophies earned during the trial will be unlocked and saved so you can pick up from where you left off.

As a PlayStation Plus member you can also take advantage of Automatic Downloads which is a new feature that lets you set your PS3 to wake itself up, download your game updates, the latest system software updates and new game demos directly to your PS3 without lifting a finger. Your PS3 will then turn itself off, ready with fresh content for when you next play.

If you subscribe for a year's membership before 3 August 2010, you not only get all of the features above, you'll also be able to claim a free copy of the award winning PlayStation 3 platform title LittleBigPlanet.

So don't get left behind - make sure you're ready to enhance your PS3 experience and take PSN to the next level with PlayStation Plus. For more information be sure to check out the linked articles here on eu.playstation.com.

That is a common thing these days, they charge for other online games. This is money to use for servers to store data and bandwith. It has grown rapidly over the years, can see why they are charging for it. Happy to pay for this gaming service and it stops a lot of downtime.

Its all geared to pay for a better service. Or to catch up with XBL to offer better services online and fresh new ideas.
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

A whole lot of PS3 owners - not on here a such, just in general - were all quick to slag off MS over the fact that it cost £40 for the year for XBL and how the PS Network was free, and how smug they were about it too! lol

Simple fact was that XBL had been around long, long before PSN and had constantly evolved whilst Sony kept promising their version would be launching 'soon'. When it finally launched how the XBL users laughed as even though they had all the opportunity to basically copy, and better XBL, they failed miserably and XBL evolved yet again and just trounced it (again).

Why was/is XBL so good?, because to have a quality service requires a lot of investment, which came from the subscriptions - and it clearly showed. Sony have obviously, finally, come to realise that the only way they're going to have anything remotely close to XBL is to charge for it so that they can make that investment.

Next will be the drop in console prices to match the PSN fees.

just a shame some of the servers are a bit slow on XBL but its no better on PSN as yet. Hopefully the PSN will make Microsoft improve this to keep its market
Now I need a turbo to keep up!
