Default help please with disc and brake change

Hi guys im new to all this but this looks like the place to get the information i need. i am going to change the rear brakes and discs on my wifes vectra and want to make sure i order the right parts i want to get a kit with all the pads discs etc seen them on ebay for around 90 quid? the car is a 2003 1.8 hatchback with abs, so im guessing i will need the vented discs? dont know the size of the disc. so can any1 advise me on what to order plllllleeeasseee also when i took the rear wheel off there was no bolt in the centre so how do i remove the disc? there is a metal cover in the centre but no fixing showing or does this prise off? i thank any1 who replys and helps cause im not paying silly garage prices!!! thankyou guys

If you have the back wheel removed you should see the backs are not vented on a 1.8 unless the caliper has been changed. There should be a guide for this job in the how to section.

Don't pay £90 for them either. The disc and pad kit is around £60-65+VAT at the dealer.

Your rears will be 278mm discs and not vented, as Chris said.

Metal cover in the centre? That's part of the disc. As chris said, have a look at the How 2 but you sound like you're not 100% sure about what you're doing? Not meant in a sarky way, just the impression i got. If so then I'd suggest paying someone to do them, it is brakes we're talking about after all.

The metal cover in the centre is for the sealed wheel bearing, to remove the disc there is a small grub screw holding it on. As said you don't seem to be 100% sure and brakes are a pretty serious subject to be tampering with

To remove the disc you have to remove the caliper bracket, which is fixed on with two very tight bolts, then remove the securing screw from the disc, and it should just fall off.

just remember the screw holding the disc on will be a torx head so will need a special tool to remove it
