Default Signum horn and steering wheel buttons not working after key reprogram

    Hello all

This is my first post here. I've been having a look around and all looks promising.

I was hoping maybe you could help me out with a fault on my 55 plate Signum.

The car was recently stolen (They stole the keys from the house) and recovered. Obviously I wanted to get a new key programmed and the old program removed.

The car had to be towed to a vauxhall garage and I was using the radio and the horn whilst being towed (the horn to tell the wife she was driving to fast in front).

Key has now been reprogramed and works fine, but they told me that the steering wheel buttons weren't working and neither is the horn. I told them that they were before hand but they said that repromming the key wouldn't affect this at all.

I was wondering if all these systems a linked to a common CAN BUS or similar system which could have caused this? I know they were working before they touched it.......

Many thanks in anticipation of your reply

sounds like they reset your CIM and forgot to recode those 2 parts in the CIM.

    Thanks very much for that.

Could you just confirm that it would necessary to reset this module to program a different key into the car? Note this isn't just a replacement key. This involves erasing the old key program so that the old key cannot be used anymore.

Just looking for some ammunition to go back to Vauxhall with

    Many thanks again

So if they wiped the key memory by resetting the sim then it could give this problem??

yes it could.. if you forget to program those 2 bits back to the cim.. as both are controlled by the CIM. (among other things)

Yep, wiping the cim could indeed disable the horn and radio buttons, it will also need to be programmed with the correct variance coding for the types of buttons / scrollers used.

Code index will also be important, to ensure the correct vehicle configuration is used.

To elaborate on this, Astra H switches are wired differently to Vectra-C and there are also 2 or 3 specifications of Astra-H scroller controls.

The wrong code index could also cause the horn to sound when the steering wheel mounted radio controls are pressed. (It has been known)
