Default Fabia VRS vs 1.9 CDTi [150]?

I'm looking into buying a new car, and have narrowed it down to either a Fabia VRS 1.9 8v 130ps or a Vectra 1.9 CDTi 150. I was wondering which is faster in a straight line, unmapped & mapped?

    Thanks

Parkers figures for Fabia VRS and Vectra 1.9 (150)

    Fabia 0-62 = 9.2 sec

    Vectra 0-62 = 8.8 sec

Not much in it mate. But at the end of the day it's down to personal choice

You could fit the Fabia in the boot of the Vectra - don't you have some preference re. the size of the vehicle?

The Vectra will give more but you will want to mod the egr to prevent swirl valve failure at a later date. As for tuning potential, you'd have to spend a fortune to get the vrs upto the output of a simple tuning boxed vectra. If you spend the same on the Vecy, it will give far more.

One of the guys I was recently on a course with had one, the Torque pull was absolutely crazy!!! It would literally lift of the ground! He had a strut brace, Remap and a Biturbo fitted and was it was doing well over 200BHP, I cant remember what exactly.

I've got to admit the power was amazing...

I had a Fabia VRS before my first Vectra.

Its the only car I wish I had never got rid of. Traded in for Vectra as I needed a bigger boot, and was fed up of the VRS's cream/white seats!!

I have never felt the power in the Vectra the same as it felt in the VRS. You did feel like you were taking off - and mine wasn't tuned.

VRS also kept its value - bought from brand new, sold two years later and only lost 2 grand in the process!!!

I traded in my 55 plate vectra sri cdti 150 for an 08 plate Seat Ibiza Fr tdi 1.9 tdi 130 (which is more or less the same car as the fabia) about 18 months ago. I only had it for 3 months i quickly got fed up with it after having had my previous vectra for nearly 2 years i couldn't get used to how small the car was.
Don't get me wrong i was getting 55mpg with the Seat compared to the 47mpg with the vectra & it handled like a go kart (i think the ride was actually too firm) but it wasn't as good an idea as i thought.
