Default immobiliser question and emission light

If i had an immobiliser problem what should i expect?

The car is a 2006 vxr. The car/spanner light goes out but the emissions light stays on. the car turns over, fuels and sparks but doesn't start. I have the wrong clocks in the car but no fault codes at all.

From experience with my old gsi it would bring up a padlock light (facelifts don't have this) and everything is dead and won't turn over at all. Is this what I would expect if i had an immobiliser fault this time.

Also what effect does the emission light have on the car?

    cheers

If there is an immobiliser related fault then the car / spanner light will flash on and off.

The emmissions light will stay on until the car is started as it needs to monitor emmissions, which can only be done once the engine is running.

Normally immobilsier faults will cause the padlock sign to come on and not the spanner light, it will be a steady padlock and wont flash.. the older veccy b's use to flash the glowplug coil light if there was an immo fault (just for info's sake )

Plasma, the OP's car is a 2006 Vectra.

Vx had ditched the padlock symbol by then and just use the car/spanner light (flashing) to notify of an immobiliser fault.
