haggle haggle haggle. we were enticed into a carpet shop in tunis. being 6'3'' and rather big- i soon forced our way out. and you gotta try the cut throat shave at a barbers if you see one.

its a great place.. the leather goods are cheap and seem well made but don't last all that long when you get back... Take trip down south on an vernight coach trip to the desert, it well worth it. see the sand sea and the Star Wars film set near Tatouine (same trip).. prices are cheap, great value for money and very nice people. its one of the few places i would ever consider going back to. I stayed just up the coast from Souse in Kantoui (better beach) but went into Souse in evenings for the souk and restaurants..

Its very much like morocco, and that was a nightmare.....when it comes to being pushed into buying something you don't want. don't take no s"*t off them, be fair, but firm

Have to agree with all the above. We went out to sousse 3 years ago.Haggle is the name of the game go low and start to walk away when u think still high price they will come down.If u r offered chance of trip to Sahara desert then take it up. Long Day of travelling but fantastic stop offs and camels into sahara for an hour then stay at Hotel for night then travel back with lunch and stops.think we paid about £90 but well well worth it.Go to the Medina in sousse another great place for bargains. We stayed at the Royal Sousse how about you.

If you're in a restaurant and the waiters don't seem to understand you very well, don't do the typical thing and shout "COR BLIMEY DON'T YOU SPEAK ENGLISH OR WHAT!!!"

I went to Tunisia 3 years ago, lovely in the resort but when you get out they are complete scumbags!
I went to Sousse (Tej Marhaba resort), and all the people outside the resort were interested in one thing, buying foreigners' wife's for 10 camel's or 100 Ferrari's.

Oh and if you take a cab, make sure you agree a fair before you get in, otherwise they will charge you through the nose!!

Road safety isnt the best, so just be careful!

We were looking at going last year but my wife and daughters were put off by the stories on tripadvisor of the treatment of women (generally ogling and touching) outside the resorts. The thing is for me is that my wife and girls aren't afraid to have a go so I would be in trouble too!!!
