Watching with interest to see if you get any posts from people that did it but didn't survive.
Would love to do stuff like this but SWMBO would never let me in my current state of health.

Not wishing to put the willies up you Steven, but just be very careful who you sign up with. When I was in Olu Deniz it, as you will have seen, is hugely popular for paragliding due to the excellent conditions there. However, not long before we were there, a few years ago, there had been several deaths when people just plunged from the sky. I think one of them was even a tandem one where the guy was meant to be 'qualified'. There were so many outfits offering paragliding that it was nigh on impossible to work out who were the decent ones and who were out just to make a quick buck - so I just didn't bother doing it as I wasn't prepared to step into the unknown so to speak.

Not sure how you can find out which ones are the decent ones either.

Theres only one firm to fly with in olu deniz and its called SKY SPORTS. I have flown with them 6 times now. Their safety record is second to none and also a good bunch of lads. My mum even had a go ( aged 55) and she loved it. If you ain't done it before make sure you pay the extra for the DVD, well worth it. Also, after the drive up to the top of the mountain, you would rather jump off than drive back down, believe me, thats is the scary bit!! Don't forget to take a disposable camera up with you, the pics are priceless!!

Did a few flights some time ago with a firm called Sky Systems down Devils Dyke way - very good. Shame I live in the flatlands, so didn't persue it. Really enjoyed the weekend course though.

Have also had a tandem in the Lake District - but not so much fun as solo.

The more you know about theory of flight and how a wing works, the scarier it is mentally. My wife was gung-ho in blissfull ignorance, whilst I worried about partial collapses, stalls, slope turbulence etc

I did it in Oledeniz last October with Gorgeous George.....mad as a march hare but a good guy.

For me it was great loved every min of it only bit I wasn,t too keen on was when they spiral it round ....fast and you pull some serious G,s

Apart from that some people get freaked out by the drive up the mountain which needless to say is steep, just keep facing inwards if that scares you

Bit strange when you are all strapped in and running down a hill when you do "jump" you feel like you should fall but you float and its amazing. My guy even let my fly the sail for about 20mins

You,ll love it and in 2 weeks we only saw one guy hit the water hard and he was on his own and a pro doing stunts.

I have to say what an amazing experience, the views are superb, instructors are total pro's but the drive up is horrendous, that alone persuaded me a was jumping off the hill

We used a company called Galaxy, they have been doing this the longest in Olu and all their pilots have 10+ years of experience flying in the area.

Seriously, its something everyone has to do if your in the area, at the same time as me, my wife and old man done it too, so a nice day out i loved the G force spins, well until you cant feel your legs anymore!

Away back to the pool now
