Default Vec B ABS Light Help Needed

    Hi all,

A chap at work has a 2001 Vec b 1.8 and the ABS light has been coming on intermittently for a few months but now it is more regular. He's had the wheels off and checked pads, calipers and sensor and they all seem to be ok. Does any body have any suggestions as to where to go from here? Is there any way of reading the code without a reader like on the Vec C?

    Cheers Howard

Howard make sure there is no rust or corrosion near the sensor as this will cause false readings and the sensor light tom come o. If it's not seated correctly

Not got any advice to offer on this one really, had the same issue on my current vec b but it the abs light hasnt come on (touch wood) since I changed the rear discs and pads, so all I can imagine is its a bad connection somewhere...

A mate of mine had this same thing on his 1999 1.8 Vec B a short while ago, he tried all sorts to fix it including giving it to a very experienced mechanic who also couldn't find it, strange thing was that his battery gave up the ghost several months later, fitted a new battery and fault disappeared, so whether the iffy battery was supplying a lower than normal voltage to one of the sensors I don't know, but as far as I know his car is still ok.

My ABS used to come on, on my SRi 140 and the speedo will stop working randomly... Its was the hub that was at fault. The problem only happened if i stood on the brake a touch hard it was the teeth or summit
