Default Radiator cooling fans – intermittant on/off - not at temp

With the hot weather I had the front windows down and I can hear the electric fans running not long after I start the car from cold.

Temp guage is still showning cold but fans run on/off for typically less than 10 secs in each state.

Any ideas guys why the electric fans are kicking in - only noticed as I have the windows open?

It has climate control rather than AC?

It may be normal, only noticed the fans were running as the windows were open - don't remember it doing it before but may not have noticed.

It'll be the other fan you're hearing that's for the condenser.

yeah the air con runs all the time with climate so the cooling fans are used to keep it cool ....would also make the car warm up slower in the winter ...option in menu to turn it off ....

Thanks guys, sounds like its normal then - just I have never clocked it.

It's a pre-facelift, don't remember seeing option to turn this off.

Can I trick the system to check the fans don't always run - set higher temp on climate control dials?

Try turning the fan speed to zero, but you should be able to turn the CC off by pressing in the large control knob which then takes you into the menu which should be displayed on the radio display.

The AC system itself will run at the same temperature regardless what you set the internal temperature to. All the temp control inside the car does is control the amount of hot coolant that passes though the heater matrix.

Or you can simply turn the air con off by unclicking it from the menu.
