    Default Check Safeguard

I've got the dreaded check safeguard message every time i start the car

But after doing a search on here i think its my own fault because yesterday i decided to remove the diy tinting film from all the rear windows which was fitted (badly) by the previous owner

So im guessing that i have probably bust the heated rear window element but what i want to know is there a way i can bypass it or is it only possible on estates

    sound the case mate

temp repair you could use the heated screen repair stuff that comes in a nail varnish type application -tape either side to mask the are that needs to be repaired and then apply - leave to dry and then apply another coat and then remove the tape BEFORE its completely dry to ensure you dont damage the connections again

I don,t know how you can by pass it. Might be possible to do. But yes I think only the estate has the sensor strips on the rear side windows. There have been one or two members who have reported that they have "damaged" the sensor strip wire. But I can not remember what their outcome was.

i believe its fuse 23. i had this on my estate. removed the fuse and no more alarm going off all the time. the alarm is still active for all other sensors. you could even do the alarm 'mod' while you're in there. you may have to remove the fuse box, then remove the plug to the siren. it should re-route through the horn.

Thanks.I'll check the fuse in the morning but the alarm isnt going off, in fact the light in the dash isnt even flashing, thats y im hoping its the fuse - i just keep getting the check safeguard message every time i start the car.

I have tested the rear heated window and thats definately bust so if it isnt the fuse i'm hoping that if i short the wires together to the heated window it will complete the circuit and get rid of the message.

Mind u i will then have 2 remember not to use the heated window

Pretty sure they just linked up the wires from each side of the car.
