    Default Twitchy Rear End

    Hey,

I've got a 2003 Vectra hatch, not had it long and have noticed its got a twitchy rear end - over bumps and uneven roads it feels very bouncy and light and just not planted on the road, and if it hits a grid or the camber is different on the back wheels it'll kick to the right.

I've read through the forum and think the "rear upper arms" are on there way out

I did the test by yanking on the top of the rear wheels and theres no crunching noise only the noise of me trying to move wheel.

The rear tyres were shot so i've had new ones on the front and put the front with 80% on the bcak and this has helped but not stopped the problem.

Am i right in thinking its the URA's or is it the shocks ??
As when pulling off at low speed you can just about hear a slight noise but its not a knock

    Any help appreciated

The noise of pulling the top of the wheels will be a clunking noise, make sure the car is on the ground when you do this check.

Failing that the chances are it is the shockers that are playing up as these are the two major weak points on the Vec-C's rear suspension (barring broken springs but the symptoms you mention kinda rule out broken springs)

Probably is the upper control arms - mine passed the "grab the tyre and see if it moves" test, but I changed them anyway and found that the outer bush was like jelly.

Rear shocks mate my outer bushes seem soft but not an issue for the MOT and the new rear shocks sorted out the bouncing

    Thanks for the replies guys

Looks like i better get some new rear shock's, might change the upper suspension arms too as it's all apart and will be peace of mind they've being done - job doesn't look to bad to do, might give it try.

    Cheers everyone
