    Default AA cover

Was just reading some old posts about clutches and you never guess what my clutch is slipping now and finding it hard to get in gears. When i bought this car i had the AA mechanical breakdown cover insurance what will cover you up to £500 for parts etc as an extra on top.So i decided to ring them today to see if they would help me. They gave me a list (2) of garages to take it to where i have to pay for it to be checked over.IF it is the clutch they then send the report to the AA.Then the AA will decide if they want to go ahead with it.THEN they told me that they will only pay for the parts up to the value of £300 and nothing else(labour or extras).I then found out by local people these two garages are very expensive and i would save the £300 if i went to other garages. So not impressed with the AA.I suggest if you are looking to take out that cover i would say stay well clear.

Cover is never worth it in the long run otherwise the warranty companies would go bust.

I've been driving since I was 17, about 45 years ago and I shudder to think what I could have spent by now on roadside assistance or warranty cover that I've never needed!

The AA Breakdown Cover policy clearly states they will pay all costs up to £500 if they have to attend your breakdown
If they do not attend and you raise a claim, then it may be reduced or declined
£300 seems fair if this is indeed the policy you have

I could have claimed for steering arms on the recent MoT failure, but decided against it as I don't want to use up any of the policy unless I really need it
