Default Parking Sensors Whats The Point

    Hi,

I just wondered how you operated the parking sensors? I have them factory fitted on my Insignia but when I park it randomly beeps and sometimes won't beep at all....?

How am I supposed to know when I am close to something etc...if anyone could help that would be great.

P.S. thanks for all the advice on the last post.

Never had that issue, just stick into reverse and they beep accordingly, same goes for the fronts. Are they clean ? Make sure that there is no polish residue around the edges as this seems to affect then.

the rear sensors come on when reverse is selected (light comes on the switch) and once reverse HAS been selected then the fronts (if fitted) will also work - you should have two differing tones and they should also come from either the front or the rear dependant on where the "obstacle" is detected the from

you can manually turn the parking sensors on by pressing the switch - but it will turn off after you drive at over 15mph ....
if you have a manual vehicle without the engine running select reverse gear and wind down all of the windows - get out and walk around the car you should hear each sensor work and also hear the difference in "urgency" the closer you get this will allow you to see how close you really are from an external perspective when your actually sat in the car and hear the same noises you would then have a reference to relate to..

if you find that any of the sensors are not working correctly then pop it back to the dealer who can read the sensor actuvity and if necessary replace the faulty component

    HTH

    regards Dez

My Insignia's parking sensors are fine. Never had an issue.

Only one thing I wish Vauxhall would do is this. On our Freelander 2, when the parking sensors start beeping, they interupt the stereo and the volume turns down so you can hear the sensors better. It's a nice idea.

Shame the Insignia doesn't do that.
