    Default cruise control question

Was cruise control fitted to all models as standard, or was the control stalk fitted and the function a programmable factory option?

I've tried playing with the stalk on my 06 SRi but nothing.

No light in the instrument binnacle on start up.
Nothing happens when I press any of the stalk functions.
I pulled out the stalk yesterday to clean the contacts (as per the how-2).
My hand book mentions "For safety reasons, cruise control cannot be activated until the foot brake has been activated" which I've tried but again nothing.
Also had a look at the fuse box list in the handbook but nothing is listed for cruise control.

    Anyone suggest anything else?

Was not standard on all models IIRC. Might need a tech 2 session to activate. Do you have the switch on the clutch pedal ?

It was standard on all models I thought?, so all models had the stalk. The only exception were special vehicles, e.g. Police, which didn't have CC, or at least didn't have the relevant stalk. Your car isn't an ex-Police vehicle is it?

Have you checked the clutch pedal spring? - common problem. Next time you try and activate it just hook your foot under the clutch pedal and give it a little 'lift' up. If it activates then it's the clutch switch spring - very easy to sort out.

I believe the very early 'Expression' model didn't have it, but was so underequipped that no-one bought it so it was discontinued shortly after...

    Might be wrong there though...

Edit: RTFP... 06 SRi will have it...

Just looked at a May 2002 spec brochure (PDF) and CC was listed as a standard feature then across the range.

EDIT: Hang on, Expression wasn't listed in that brochure. Goes off to look at later PDF brochures...

Yes m8, you're quite correct. Expression arrived in the 2004 models and was also present in 2005 model line-up before being dropped.

CC wasn't present on that model at any point. Jeez!, stingy gits! lol

It still impresses me that they had the foresight to fit as standard across the range in general knowing it was mainly going to be used as a motorway mile muncher...

Could be a dirty contact inside the switch or a dodgey pedal sensor, I think there is a thread on how to clean the switch
