    Default Intermittent Vibration

Had my wheels balanced 3 weeks ago.

Last week a slight vibration started again (70 mph). It starts in the seat and then moves up the steering column to the wheel. (back wheels?)

I know vecs can be really fussy with balancing and some peeps have tried for ages and gone to many different places to get a vibration sorted.

So with this in mind I booked the motor into the local vx dealer to be checked.

Now, the damn thing has stopped vibrating. It last vibrated after the last spell of rain, so I was wondering ...

1 - Is there any way for water to get inside the Vx Structure wheels?

This would certainly explain what is happening.

2 - Should I still get it checked out at Vx?

They are not going to charge me a fee to be looked at as it's still under warranty but I dont want to waste their time if there is nothing wrong

    Thanks for looking

I had this problem had them balanced countless times, was the back wheels pretty sure. Vauxhall took it in had a look nothing..... in the end had a nail in my rear tyre. I know I should of probably seen it but saying VX do a there safety checks and missed it, only noticed after it came out as the tyre looked like it was in need of some air and at 13psi no wonder it had a bad vibration at higher speeds.

I would take it in, It shouldnt vibrate at higher speeds mine doesnt anymore smooth as silk.

13 psi? Surely the handling was compromised.

Tyres are in good nick and correctly pressured. I check them every week

it's got Kumho on the front and Bridgestone Turanza on the back.

Why would it vibrate in the wet and stop when it's all dried out?

I have tried this on my old Vectra B i500 Wagon.. It was the back shocks that played when it was wet and rained. I don´t now why. Some said it was the pressure in the air that was higher in wet conditions then in dry conditions.. Replaced the shocks and it was gone.

    Thats interesting.

cheers for that. What's the best way to test the rear shocks on a Vec C?

Is it the good old bounce test?

Well i did a quick bounce test. The car seems to wobble a bit at the back end though.

It sort of goes down then up and wobbles left and right. I did the upper control arm check and there are no clunks there.

I will check the wheel nuts

Well the vibration started off small other than that felt fine, but got worse for like a week until I took it in, when balanced felt a little bit better. Then driving out I thought it felt sloppy turning, thats when I pulled up to a garage and inspected it, got it repaired now good as new.
