New tyres again!

Had to change the front tyres, the Toyos only lasted about eigth months. The NCT5s lasted twelve and still had some tread but they used to wheel spin alot and didn't grip well on corners (at speed).

Got some Eagle F1s this time, the guy at the garage said they were slightly cheaper than Toyos, could get them quicker and should be as good. Well they were cheaper, did get there fast but aren't as good so far. They may take a bit of time to bed in, only been on for five days. So far I would say they are good but not as good as Toyo T1-Rs. Bit worried about wet performance, haven't had the pleasure yet but they have no radial groves unlike most tyres so I'll be interested to see how they do.

I got my f1's last year for 170 at quick fit(for 2)..much better than my nct5's and have never had any issues with them grip wise, wet or dry...not had any other tyres on to compare them against but I am well pleased with them..

I will need to reboot mine in the next few months, I am open for suggestions as to the best make, both grip wise and wearing abillity. size 215/17/50s or simalar that will fit and not throw the speedo out..

Ed, get the 225's and with the money saved have the car tech 2'd to match the new tyre size.

i went with new 225/45/17 tyres all round last year,
realy good grip and wear rates

Bridgestone Potenza , bought em from ebay , brand new for £50 each delivered , and quick fit charged me a fiver each to slip em on

its a good thing to remember to swap your fronts to the back at about 8k miles from new, as the rears wear less, and you will ballance out the wear and make em last longer

as above,
its free if you do it at home yourself, and only takes 10 mins a side if you have two jacks ,

however, i have found any garage / wheel-shop will charge between five and ten pounds to do the job , and they usually slip you inbetween customers having new ones fitted

I did this on my first set of typres on my previous Vectra but when I had them changed the mobile fitter said you should not do this as it can cause you to lose grip on round-abouts and quick corners and cause the car to spin out. He had a poster inside the back door of his van from Michelin about why you shouldn't swap fronts and rears so since then I haven't.
