    Default Fitness Help

I'm looking for help on how to gain weight and get fit.......

    I'm 22, 5ft 10 and weigh 10st.

Never been bothered about getting fit etc but lately i've been feeling like my body is older than it is!! My knees are stiff and sore when i kneel down or kneel on them, get back ache when i bend down for longer than 2-3 minutes and seem to have lost a stone or so over the past few months.

My job is quite demanding, always on my feet and it involves quite a lot of manual lifting, which i struggle at because i have hardly any upper body strength and my arms feel really weak.

So basically i'm wondering what sort of routines i should try and adapt, what to eat and drink and if any weight gain products would be any good.

    Thanks

im 6foot7 and did weigh around 12 stone so i was pretty skinny and i know how you feel! in just under a year im now up to around 14 stone, still fairly skinny as such but alot healthier than i was. The key is eating good things not chips and crap all the time. Thats the hardest part too but if you can eat well youll notice a massive difference. Weights wise id say join a gym because its so hard to do anything at home whereas if you make that decision to get to the gym whilst your there you work hard as theres nothing else to do! (except watch the ladies ) any gym you join should provide you with a fitness programme or theres thousands on the web if you look about.

Supplements arnt key but do help, i used a couple different protein shakes but i cant remember what they were!just make sure you eat properly and that will make a massive difference. Hope that helps a bit! Im sure there will be more people along with more advice soon enough

I wish I had your problem! 6'6 and just over 19 stone!

the key to weight gain is to eat regular meals that are fairly high in carbs. So pasta is a good one.

    Pppfff at you lot!

There has been a cure to your problem around for thousands of years it's called "beer" if you drink it alot you become (with practice and persistence) heavier and more...........robust.

agree with the beer theory .......get some guiness or stout down you. Years ago they used to give it to people in hospital to gain weight fast and it works believe me!

I would also recommend a healthy balanced diet too. As for the upper body strength, I go to the gym regularly and apart from joining one (which is expensive) You could do a few sets of press up's every night (as many as you can). You could alternate the press-ups with situps but be careful not to hurt your back. Do it every night and you'll soon notice the difference matey.

Dont worry if you dont gain loads of weight though? i was a racing snake until very recently when i started to fill out (i'm nearly 40).

Muscle actually weighs more than flab, which is why peoiple who go to a gym to lose weight get heavier before they lose. Join a gym, worrrk out, and get some dietary advice from them or your GP
