Default Couple of quick air-con condenser questions

    Evening Gents,

Just bought a new condenser from autoairconparts and it said this on the receipt :

Warranty: All condensers now come with 18 months warranty from date of order, all other parts supplied come with a 12 month warranty. Compressor warranty subject to receiver drier, expansion valve and system flush, failure to do so may invalidate warranty.

YOU MUST CHECK OIL LEVEL IN COMPRESSORS BEFORE INSTALLATION, FAILURE TO DO SO WILL INVALIDATE WARRANTY. COMPRESSORS SUPPLIED DO NOT ALWAYS HAVE CORRECT OIL CHARGE SO IT IS THE INSTALLERS RESPONSIBILITY TO CHECK.

I thought of just fitting it and taking it to garage to have it re-gassed with gas, oil and dye. Would this be ok ?

2nd Q. What do people undo to get that psst sound when taking the condenser off ? is it by undoing the two 13mm bolts on the side ?

Cost for the condenser ( which is OEM ) was £104 incl vat AND delivery for a 1.8 vvti engine (next day del ). Just have to buy 'O' rings from Vauxhall now. If anyone knows the part nos. it would be appreciated.

    Thanks once again in advance

I know you said you need it re gassed but make sure nobody catches you letting air con gas off into the atmosphere as it's illegal. The psst sound to check if any gas is in the system is on the high pressure port of the air con system. Again it should be done with a regulator to check for pressure reading. Normal levels are around 4-5 bar of pressure in a sound system, any lower than that then you either need a top up or you have a leak somewhere. also, make sure you wear good eye and body protection when undoing the system if gas/refridgerant is still present cos it gives nasty frostbite.

PS You will still get the psst sound when undoing the connections from the condenser aswell.
