    Default diesel filter

    After some help , iv just changed the diesel filter this afternoon, done as my mate at the garage said attach filter to the housing fill the unit with diesel put on the seal then top and tighten. put back on car and turn over and let idel and do not rev .... afetr a min or two should be ok to drive....

    my problem is the car wont turn over any more, turned over 2 times and then died on me running for no longer than 15 seconds. ?


    im confused, any body help please .....

    It would have fired briefly due to diesel being left in the lines/injectors. You have back filled the filter housing-now you need to bleed the lines by cranking for 5 secs then leave for 5 secs repeat this process until it fires into life.

    done this but now another problem, the car spanner comes on and it goes into limp mode. never done this before but when i picked the car up just over a week ago it had the spanner light on any way but still give the power. when i got it running after fitting all back together it wouldnt allow me to go over 2000 revs? is this right ??

    I see you have a 1.9 cdti so there was no need to fill the filter housing with fuel as there is a lift pump in the tank on the 1.9 models. The correct way to start the cdti engine after changing the fuel filter is to turn the ignition to position 2 for ten to fifteen seconds switch off and repeat the process switch off again, the fuel system should then be primed and you should be able to start the engine normally. Just a thought, have you put both of the electrical conections back on the fuel filter housing.

    thanks guys this got my dti running again and i got the spanner light to but only for about 3 seconds
