    Default Any LGV/HGV Drivers?

Im after a bit of advice. Im looking at a career change and would like to get into LGV/HGV driving. Ive always liked driving and HGV articulated lorries is always something that has interested me as a job.

Im just a little confussed about the process at obtaining said license. Im getting the idea you have to do LGV class C and once youve completed that you get your LGV Class C+E provisional. Now i know theres a ton of modules and theory tests inbetween and a medical is required that which confuses me but is LGV the same as HGV? Everytime i search HGV training there never is HGV training but always LGV?

Does anyone know the total process of obtaining your full HGV articulated lorry license as all sites seem to have different iprocesses? I think thats all the questions i need answer but im sure there will be some ive forgot

    Thanks in advance, Matt

I got my license in 2006 so unfortunatly have to do all the extras. Was it before 97 you didnt have to do certain things?

Also im a little worried about the medical as i wear corrective lenses. Will this go against me?

yes it was so you will have to do a test for each vehicle and one theory test and the medical but with your lenses you should be OK if you can pass the eye test as theres plenty of drives with glasses of one sort or another a few other things you will have to do to get as they like to say now qualified.

The other problem you might find is that there are thousands of hgv/lgv drivers out of work at the minute and fresh licence holders can find it hard at the best of times. Dont want to put you off but its not the game it once was. Been involved in road transport for nearly twenty years in various jobs including lgv driving and the amount of elf and safety bs and drivers hours and working time bs you got to put up with is killing the job.

No, it just means your driving licence is endorsed with requirement 01 in the information codes section
You must wear the lenses when driving AND in the photo

However, you should already have this on your current driving licence

As others have said its had the a**e kicked out of it for a long time now,and being a newly qualified licence holder you will always struggle to find someone to give you that first break.Good luck if you do decide to go ahead with it though
