I have oil leaking down the back of the engine on a 2.2 non direct petrol, it seems to be coming from the rocker cover gasket....is this a easy thing to replace or a garage job?
Any help will be appreciated....

if your happy to do it then crack on mate - you will save yourself time and money if you do rather than a trip to the stealers ... if it goes pete tong then you can always go to them as plan B
0-Large smile ......every time it's driven
easy peasy, half an hour job that, take the coil pack off, undo the cover, remove the old gasket, clean up the cover and the head surface, new gasket, cover back on (dont over tighten it else you'll begger your new gasket), coil pack back in, job done
Thanks for the help....will give it a go.....
And while its off check the chains good and tight.
Also worth making sure that any breather hoses connected to the rocker cover arent blocked or coked up.
Dont know that engine but had a blocked hose on an old cav that built up pressure and blew oil from the gasket and filler cap.
Cheers chaps......wkend jobby
HI, I'm just a newby to getting the tools back out. Got a 53 plate 2.2 sri. Great car but just been to the vauxhall garage for service and health check. Got a list of repairs to work through - replace the rocker cover gasket is one of them. I found this thread and thought great! But I'm off to a slow start - what is the coil pack and how do I take it off. I work in an office but my past exploits saw me change the cylinder head on a mini so I just need a wee help please! Cheers for any advice you can offer.

The coil pack is the long bit on top of the engine, if its a none direct it will have a little silver plate on it with Ecotec written on it, if its a direct it will be black with ecotec writen on it.
