Fuel thingy!

Afternoon all,

does anyone know what this part is called as it has me baffled i cannot seem to find any mention of it and i have been scrolling through the net for a couple of hours now. i have circled the part in question.

I know this is to do with the fuel side of the car, looks like the main fuel lines goes into it and then the other pipe goes into the fuel reg i think.

Any help on this will be much appreciated.

nice one guys,

when we had engine cover off earlier looks like the main pipe going into from behind is the main fuel supply and then the pipe on the front of the unit goes into the fuel reg or fuel rail.

reason i ask is that i have been getting the smell of petrol in the car through the air vents so i took it into supertyres this morning and we beleive it is this that is leaking as when you get closer to it the smell of petrol gets very strong, i am trying to sort this out as i have two young children and dont wanna risk them in the car that stinks of fuel.

they have been known to leak from them its a part fitted to most / a lot of petrol vx's you cant buy it seperate you need to buy the under bonnet fuel pipe and it comes with it (but dont worry if it dont) ...its a fuel shock chamber was a mod on the very old j jetronic systems from the 80's and it has been on petrols for years as the fuel reg opens in the tank and the fuel flow's into the tank return there can be a slight flow back wich over a period of time would build up into a pulse wich would give for a jerky drive it softens out the fuel flow so the fuel at the injectors flows at a steady rate and hasnt got a pulse ,.... hope this helps .... benny

also my car is booked into vx on tuesday morning as its got a recall for a faulty fuel regulator, these last couple of days my EML lights has been coming on quite regular do you think this will be down to the faulty fuel reg or the fuel shock chamber?

if it is leaking that would give you the smell of fuel ...it wont give you any running problems ..i would think the fuel reg maybe your fault for engine man / running problems .. you can only get it as part of the fuel pipe .....
