    Default Spanner Warning Light

I've just come back from a weekend away in my V6 3.0cdti towing may caravan (best towcar I have ever had!). All was well with my car towing on Friday. On Saturday when I started the car the spanner/car warning light came on and stayed on. I was worried but the car seemed to be performing as normal. After driving a while and stopping the car, then restarting, the light was off. Same thing happened today towing back home, but performance again seemed fine.
Reading some other posts, seems light perhaps it might be the glow plugs? any advice would be welcome before I visit my Vx dealer.
    Thanks

I doubt a glow plug error would only happen sometimes when driving.

Yes, Only seems to be when cold. If I run the car for a while(note sure how long), switch the engine off and then re-start it(immediately) warning light is off.

The car is out of warranty and the warning is intermittent
There is no point going to VX, chances are they will simply take £60 for "no fault found"

Wait until the warning happens on EVERY start up or the engine goes into safe mode
Report it on next service for investigation (that way you don't have to pay for the investigation)

Only thing is I would hate for my engine to go into safe mode when I have a 1500kg caravan on the back. My local Vx dealer is actually quite accomodating with me after the debacle of the deisel injectors(long story), although they do tend to hide when I go into the service centre!
I'll see if its happening on a daily basis when the engine is cold and if it is, presumably if I take the car to them when its cold they will be able to find the fault?

Take it in with the spanner light on. Don't stop the engine so it goes out, they can read the live fault code then.

Yes, if you can recreate the fault under certain conditions it helps
At this time of year the internals of the engine won't be that "cold", nearer 20'C most of the time
As a result the metals are more expanded than they are during the winter
