    Default Drivers Accessories, Glasgow

I dont know if anyone will interested in this.

Drivers Performance centre shut down in April and Wilsons Auctions in Dalry are now auctioning off all their stock.
Viewing is on the 23rd of june, 10am till 5pm. With the auction on the 24th of June at 6.30pm.
    Link is here: http://www.wilsonsauctions.com/drivers.asp

I worked for them in the first ever shop (I helped clean it and assemble the shelving & the wheel rack, in Gt Western Road for it opening back in the early 80's I worked there with David Wilkinson (who now owns Motorspeed in central Ayr.

George was a good bloke and so was Alan his elder brother and owner of Checkpoint. I find this news very very sad as it was a bit I suppose like the holy grail for car enthusiasts in it's heyday.

I never really went back to them after I left and only very infrequently visited it in the big place it relocated to in St Georges Road. If I can I may go along to the auction for old times sake.

    Sad day.

That was Auto image it used to be up near the Uni then moved down near Hein Gericke and Ducati Glasgow, Ian was or is still a cool Dude, he hated Drivers and used to undercut tyres and stuff to us as employee's of Drivers ha ha ha

I have crossed paths with many car nuts there and seem to come across many now that used Drivers

One guy sticks in my head called Bradley, his old man owned a few amusement arcades he had a brand new 190E with a Lorinser body kit his father had a 500SE saloon with AMG alloys and a Lorinser kit as well it was pale silver green met

Another was a rally driver (or ex- rally driver) Peter Morrison (reg was very distinctive) and a certain Campbell McLaren, of McLaren Builders, he owned beautiful red Lamborghini Countach that he brought in to the shop one morning.

We also had more than our fair share of Scallie's with knocked off XR3's and hot stereo's etc etc those guys were well worth a watchin' ha ha ha

Anybody know the fate of George Gibson now? I saw he was selling used cars via the trader about three years or so back and that didn't work
