Problem with rear door handle

The problem is, that i was taking my handles off to re spray and finish fitting the chrome, and the screw you have to un-do to remove the handle has fell into the doo so the door closes and locks but has to be opened from inside.

How can i get inside the door, i undo the 2 torx holding the internal part of the door on but can't get it off and don't want to break it.

Any how2's?

the screw shouldnt have droped down, the door can be open from the inside? if so open it and just get a new screw from a diy shop get some string loop it and try and get it on the handle catch on the out side of the car to pull it to put the handle on, i had to do this when i ****edc my rear door up pressed the catch at the side of the door and the ****** door wouldnt open so had to brake the catch that holds the door latch

I don't know how the door system works from the outside, there are too many things that move i don't want to break it. The front ones seem simple, the handle snaps into place when you tighten the screw but i cant see how tightening the rear one would. Too complex

have you taken the handle off the out side???

Yeh i can take it off and the little block that is further towards the rear of the door. But usually when there is no handle the door will not shut it just bounces back, but with mine it will close so im guessing the latch is caught or something?

it sounds like the latch that holds the door handle in the open position is not doing that, thats why its locking, look where the handle goes, to the right put you little finger in and pull the catch it will open the door, you will need to get some string to pull it to get it in the open position to put handle back on then put a screw in to push the cap into place with the handle


i done it i took my handles off tried to shut the door but they wouldnt so i knocked the catch down on the side of the door i didnt know that the door wouldnt open, in the end i had to brake the catch that holds the lock in the open position and did the thing with the string to get the handle back on

Yeh there is a silver metal latch that prevents the handle going into its correct position. I will need to know what screw size to get i dont want to cross threar the hole

take to diy shop and ask them if you can try a few,,, i was ****ed off when i did it to mine i ripped the door card off to try and fit it , even then i couldnt get to it , had to get a new door card, somebody on here said hit it with a screw driver to try and relese the catch that holds it in the open position , and you know what that workedlol only trouble is tho if i wanna change the drivers rear handle i have to use string to get it back on,

I just want it to work lol so it sells! Should have left the chrome off for the buyer to sort out and now i've made it worse

It will be a metric one of some size so if it looks the right size it probably is.
