Default Changing rear brakes tomorrow, any tips?

Im going to fit new rear discs and pads tomorrow, which looks quite straight forward in the haynes manual, but it does suggest i clamp the flexi hose and open the bleed nipple before i compress the piston, is this necessary as i have never done this on my previous vauxhalls, i usually just release the top on the fluid resevoir, also do i need to replace the caliper bolts for new ones, if so does anybody know what i need to ask for at the parts counter.

    Any other tips welcome.

    Cheers Keith

I've never clamped the hoses and used the bleed valves, simply done what you've done and released the reservoir cap when I've wound the pistons in.

    You've got a rewind tool I assume?

Caliper bolts - strictly you're meant to replace them but if you clean up the threads and put on fresh locking compound you'll be fine.

If you need the part numbers for the bolts, if you thought you'd prefer to get some, and want the torquing values of the bolts then let me know.

I use a Loctite one - blue stuff in a little Pritt stick type tube. I can go and look at the tube and get the specifics if you want, but basically a general purpose locking compound.

Yep, Halfords should sell it. I'm sure that's where I got mine from.
