    Default Help please

Ok My car had developed a series of misfires due to to the 3rd injector loom - which was repaired this week and these symtoms are gone. However before this issue came about, the car had the occasional misfiire - typically around the 2,750rpm, however it still has this and it has also made an appearance at 2,500rpm and over 3000.

    It also idles above 750rpm.

My question is, can the EGR valve be responsible for these? Or is this possibly stuffed injectors?

I disconnected the egr valve but I still have the lowdown flat spot and the engine doesn't have the power peakness it used to have.

    Surprise Surpise it's a CDTI 150 , I would appreciate any answers.

    Regards,

Its supposed to idle at 850+/-80rpm so anywhere between 770 and 930 is fine apparently.
As for the misfire have you done a leak off check on the injectors? This will either confirm or rule them out (i must add its not always the case that its always a 100% clear diagnosis but should give some indication what the injectors are doing). The only other things I can think of are EGR, boost valve, perished pipes, lambda sensors, MAF sensor and seeing as yours is a 150 the swirl bars. I know its a good list to check but its always the same without seeing the car, all we can do is give our best guesses. Hope you sort it Gazza best of luck matey.

Cheers Dave m8, hope it's not the injectors lol.. how would I do a leak off check? or is it something a mechanic needs to do.

Odd thing was I drove it for about 20miles yesterday and not a cheep out of it. Just wish it would make a fault code available if you know what I mean - that way I can get it sorted. Manifold was changed m8 and the swirl flaps open and shut as I watched the rod when someone revved it.

Yeah really unless you want to buy the kit, mine was £200 quid but does all makes of injectors, basically you take the leak off pipes off and replace them with some special measuring tubes, unplug the cam sensor (so it wont fire up) and clamp off the leak off pipe that goes back to the system. Get somebody to turn it over for 10 seconds and observe the pipes, they should all fill up at a steady rate, if any fill up a lot quicker/slower/not at all, there is a problem with that injector (usually over/underfuelling). Like I said its not 100% diagnosis but its a good indication of what the injectors are doing.
Hope that made sense and it sheds a bit of light on it for you.

Cheers m8, im gonna give the egr valve a clean and grease it - I have the 3mm hole in the solenoid side as it was a cheap replacement and that's one of my main reasons for hoping the egr valve is the culprit.

Cheers for your help. Very much appreciated.

Also just noticed that the car when started today for the first time had a bit of a knocking noise (regardless of clutch pedal being pressed or not) when idling. This however disappeared after an 8 mile drive. I have been checking the exhaust too and it doesn't seem to be smoking when I accelerate hard. There is no - black smoke (no more than a CDTI should), no blue smoke and no white smoke either.

Like I said i'm gonna give the EGR valve a clean to see if that resolves some problems.

Gazza, hope the EGR clean works for you.
    However my CDTI 150 has a similar issue. So far I've;
fitted a brand new EGR valve and added the Fiat gasket
removed the throttle body and cleaned the gunk from the end of the inlet manifold
fitted a new boost sensor and replaced the vacuum pipes on spec
Next port of call for me will be injectors when I've got the cash
