Cant agree with you more matey, they are absolute S**T...
thats nothing you go to the isle of white...... its like a war zone (road surface wise)
I agree mate, we pay for the privilage of driving on the road, we pay tax on the petrol we need to drive on the road....why are they in such bad condition?? Where does all this money go? It certainly doesn't go on making the driving experience better for us
It used to be a standing joke that the UK's roads were great and "just wait till you drive in Ireland" well isn't it the reverse now I have been over in both North and South Ireland a few times with work and their roads are so much superior to ours it's not funny.
I constantly find myself driving a car as though I am riding a motorbike, avoiding potholes surface scar's and dropped manholes, it is pathetic given that we pay billions into the treasury and, lets face it it won't get better with the current budget deficit!
to be fair with the 450 quid or whatever it is I have to pay for the 2.8 my local streets should be paved with gold!!! I'm out in Germany at the mo though and it took them weeks to fill in some rather bad wheel damaging potholes so your not alone...!
reason i started this rant some1 on AOC from norway put up a vid saying how bad there roads are. We said they looked gleeming roads you wanna see ours and his reply was "you cant even see the white road markings at one point" but the road was smoother than ours!!!!!
Tell me about it. On the main road from here to Telford there's a bend, not tight or nasty - but with potholes and the white marking obscured very difficult to judge the start and the curve of it at night. That's where I first noticed the Vec dip beam was crap!
Blame the County Councils - they're responsible for all roads except motorways and the most important A-roads (which the Highways Agency are responsible for). Motorways are (thankfully) still fairly good, local roads are a joke.
What I find most galling is when councils start to blame the snow for creating pot holes and ruining the roads, when they were s*** long before the snow.
