Default New flywheel and clutch :(

Went into vauxhall today and asked what the horrendous noise was when i lifted the clutch and been told i need a new flywheel, and they would reccommend doing the clutch as well.. circa £1000

Now i have to wait and see what the warranty company says (AA Waranty).

Gutted though, only had it since mid april and thought i had left behind the expensive break downs and down time from having no car for long periods of time

its a common tale sadly, being one of the Veccy's failings, See what the warranty people say, but davew555 can do this job a hell of alot cheaper than the dealers.

you can do it for less.. you can still drive on a noisey dmf, that way you can hunt around and pick up one cheaper along with a replacement clutch.. I managed to pick up a dmf and clutch for £275 + delivery.. had a mate fit for £150. VX wanted about £1500 for the part and labour...

If your AA warranty is the type I think it is they will replace the parts, i spoke to them and it did include dmf and clutch. However i thought they said the car had to break down with this fault before they will be liable under this warranty scheme. They also only pay out max £500 per time with a max 4 claims per year....

Hope they do take it on.. keep us advised..

My claim limit is higher from what i remember, i got the gold cover, so they will pay upto £8000 on my policy.

Thats the only thing im thinking it will need to properly break down before they do anything. Pain in the arse waiting for the inevitable really especially with the amount of mileage i do.

its a bad week for clutches hey?

wtf, where did you find a dmf and clutch for that price, surely it wasnt an Luk one at that price, the cheapest i have seen the dmf is £350, though come to think of it, i'm made to believe the cdti is cheaper than the dti isn't it

The flywheel you will probably have a good while yet, mines has been doing it for 3-4 years/76k. But I will say get it done as soon as you can though as it will start to affect the starter solenoid/motor.

Yeah thats the aim. I hate having to wait when i know its damaged.
