    Default Serviced The Car Today

    1st home service

    Trade card

    20 litres 10/40 buy 3 get 4
    Oil Filter
    Air Filter
    Pollen Filter
    Derv Filter
    Sump plug O ring
    Oil Flush
    Oil Conditioner
    Fuel Treatment

    Cost £67.39 inc VAT

What I found while doing it, car was serviced by sup dealer 7k ago

1st - Sump plug almost welded to sump, got it out with a little shock treatment

2nd - Oil on sump, not sure where it's come from, could be from old filter at last service, cleaned off and will check in 1k time

3rd - How much stuff can they obstruct the air box screws with?

4th - Again electrical plug obscuring oil filter case

5th - Pollen filter so black it can never have been changed before

6th - Derv filter was a pureflo one, not sure if this is factory fit or not, wasn't too bad, half black half yellow still.

Overall I'm now happy my car is fitted all new with service stuff, as you can see I had to do the work, but at £70 ish and 3 oils in reserve as well, my sevice makes Vx ones look poor for double money.

I'm afraid he did at times, went something like this Ed

mechanic, ain't bothered to change the filter, mechanic couldn't have changed the oil if the plug is this tight, and why didn't he notice the oil leak if he'd bothered to take the belly shield off, added to a couple of slipped socket expressions

Opps nearly forgot, when I got the car I reset the service counter, it then told me 5000 miles, done it today after servicing, and it says 20000.

Doing mine tomorrow, light came on on Tuesday night. All filters (bar air, 'cos the K&Ns on) and 5ltrs longlife for £28.00 Worked out quite well, because I'm off down to Lancaster for a week on 4th August, so piece of mind knowing car refreshed for the trip.

Thats why I've done mine, going to take the kids on hols soon, and wanted to make sure I had fresh oil etc, esp in this heat.

Is that oil and filters for £28? you had a result there if it is, mine was all Vx stuff, plus 4 tubs of 5 ltr, they were nearly 17.50+ each before discount, I think in all the oil bill was £24+ vat, so about £7 a tub all in.

Nice one VV, keep her running sweet

It does make a mockery of the VX pricing scheme though when you can get it all for around £70

Hi, Has anyone replaced the spark plugs on a GSi. Checked at recent service and the plugs are due at 60K (I gather it involves a bit of labour - stripping of the exh manifold etc.)

I have another question for the gurus about oil treatments: if you put Slick 50 in the engine does the oil flush treatment remove the protective properties of Slick 50?

    Cheers
