    Default Current Cleaning routine

    I usually wash the car with pressure washer using;
    turtlewax wash and wax
then use autoglym super resin polish
and then use Meguiars NXT Tech Wax.
but still cant achieve the finish that some members are getting with their cars.

anything i can do diffrently??? please provide product names if possible

    thanks in advance

    Default my secret

    for a shine like this
    http://www.theblaineys.co.uk/signum.htm
I use Halford car wash (the good stuff) and a sponge. And colour magic or Turtle wax (quick stuff) applied with an old T shirt and buffed with another old T shirt. It works for me.

    Hi there,

Have you tried claying the car before polish & waxing?

Without having you spend spend spend as some of us do, the only thing I would loose is the Turtle Wax and replace with something like Megs Gold Class.

Do you use a sponge?..........if yes then get yourself a lambswool mitt, ideally 2off, one for the top half and one for the lower half.

Do you use the 2bucket method i.e. one bucket filled with your wash solution and the other with clear water for rinsing the mitt before putting it back in the wash solution.

Are you putting the polish and wax on THIN?...........if it's on too thick then it can be difficult to remove and leave streaking.

Also, the following is a quick "How To": -

    Tools required

    2 buckets
    At least 1 wash mitt
    Quality car wash solution
    Glass polish
    Carpet & upholstery cleaner
Leather cleaner & conditioner (if required)
    Plastic/nylon brush for alloy wheels
Spray Wax or Speed Detailer or Quick Detailer
    Approx 2 microfibre cloths
    Drying towel
    Tyre gel
    Chamois

    Method (exterior)

Rinse car including wheels & arches.
Wash wheels & arches & tyres (brush).
Wash using wash mitt, rinsing in the second bucket (just water).
Rinse using open ended hose (the water will sheet off the car).
Dry using drying towel (Spraying Quick Detailer onto rinsed paintwork will assist).
    Dry wheels.
Using chamois extract all water from nooks & crannies.
Apply SW or SD or QD to MF cloth and apply to paintwork & wheels.
    Clean Glass.

    Method (interior)

Hoover carpets & upholstery, dash, door panels, boot space etc.
Brush carpet & upholstery then hoover again.
    Apply Carpet/upholstery cleaner.
Brush in then wipe down with a clean cloth.
Apply plastic cleaner/conditioner to all plastic panels including dashboard.
    Clean glass.

Note: - Wash cloths, pads etc on a 40°C wash cycle and NEVER use fabric softener.

    JOB DONE

    PRODUCT SUGGESTIONS

    Gold Class Auto Wash

Autoglym Engine & Machine Cleaner: - Apply to wheels & arches can also be used for engine bay cleaning.

Autoglym Vinyl & Rubber Care: - Apply to plastic including wheel arches and engine bay just spray and walk.

Any Quality: - Spray Wax, Speed Detailer or Quick Detailer.

Nothing I can add to that Bryan, although my bank manager would like me to go back to Wash N Wax days with a cheap sponge and a yellow duster but alas, the swirls are a calling.

My wife would love to moan at my ever increasing collection of car cleaning equipment but as I keep her Megane looking good, she has to keep quiet.

( But I don't tell her how much it all costs.)
