    Default Vectra C Oil Filter

New on the site so Hi. 2 points:-
Can anyone tell me where I will find the oil filter on the 2003 2 ltr SXI DTI Vectra C. Diagram if poss please.
Had probs previous with a particular light on the dash. When it appears the engine loses power and you are unable to accelerate. Normally have to pull over and stop the car. Once restarted it is fine again for at least a while. Pain when on long journeys.
Know that this matter was spoken about on the BBC's Watchdog, but unsure what came of it. Was there ever a recall from Vauxhall.....Appreciate any responses.....Colin

That problem wasn't on watchdog from what I remember.

I guess you have the car and spanner light? Whats happening when it comes on? Are you slowing down? Going up hill? Accelerating?????
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

Sounds like your getting limp home mode from either an air leak or dodgy sensor.

First port of call is to check the boost pipes (the large black pipes going to and from the intercooler) for cracks or splits as they can degrade over time.

Second thing to check are the vacuum pipes (the little white plastic pipes with rubber ends). Check the rubber ends especially as they can also split.

Remove the plastic cover from the top of the engine and you will see the oil fiter housing, its black in colour and needs either a 34 mm or 36mm socket to remove the lid. Look for the black plastic hexagon on its lid just by the inlet manifold.

Hi Big Sig. There was something spoken about on Watchdog but think it was to do with the fuel. Sure that the light is like an exclamation mark. Was told that it was putting the car into a safe mode which gets you home. Very similar to the topic on Watchdog. That apparently only affected petrol engines though.....

    Thanks John appreciated.
    Quick 2 other points.
Can you tighten the bonnet release cable as struggling to open bonnet by myself. Need someone elses help to lift bonnet whilst other pulls the bonnet release.
Door shows as open on the dash and beeps as though it is, every time you take off. Obviously the door is closed. What can be done to stop this...
