By "rod" I assume you mean swirl flap gadget?

Injector 3 on 1.9 CDTI's has a known fix (kit available, see sticky at top of page), so has the swirl flap thingy (buy new manifold and do various crap reducing mods). As for help from VX... *breathes in sharply*

Oh, err, welcome to the wonderful world of Vectra C ownership.

They might help but as yours is a 2004 model unless its low milage with full VX history I doubt they will. I have read reports of the job costing £600 or so
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

The Fiat gasket will help. VX should have put them on as original equipment. They were flowing far too much gas from what I could see. Deffo worth fitting if they are known to be OK on Fiat engines.

I did hear £500 for a new manifold! (not sure if that included fitting)

    Useful inlet manifold fitting thread.

It's a known problem (among lots of others).

The rod comes complete with a new manifold although some people have fixed them for themselves fairly cheaply.

Another inlet manifold thread. This chap appears to have got his fixed at VX for £500 (not including swirl valve motor). He also had other problems!
