    Default 40k service 2.8 turbo v6 2006

Good afternoon Ladies and Gents, I ask for your ears

I have just had a quote for a 40k service for my newly acquired signum 2.8 t they are asking for 356 of my pounds ( ouch ) quoting that the plugs are ( 161 ) of that.

Does this sound fair to you ?

I don,t mind if its a good service and they look after my new stead,

    Many thanks

That seems quite high Lee. Especially for plugs as you can get a set for the 2.0T for about £20. i'd shop about a bit mate.

There are only 4 in that though. I suspect its the time on the job as if its anything like the 3.2 loads has to be removed

Just checked on TIS and the plugs are supposed to be 8 years or 72k so I would leave them for at least another 20k.

still, doesn't £161 for 6 plugs seem a silly amount of money. I think it was spoons who did his own service on his vxr and parts only cost him £60 or so. Stealers are a rip off no matter which way yo look at it. Glad you found it cheaper Lee. It def pays to shop around mate.

I was quoted the trade price for the plugs as the dealer misquoted me and that was £10 per plug plus VAT so £161 is a bit heavy more than 100% markup. The service came to around £280 inc vat, this was an independent and said its the most expensive service on any Vectra, however he did comment that the rear 3 plugs are very difficult to get at and take a considerable amount of time. This was on an 80K service.

Default thanks for the feedback gents

The reason I am doing this big service is

1 - the car has no history ( service )
    2 - I want to run a re-map from ( superchips - bluefin )
3 - I will be doing 111111111000000000111111.9 miles in the coming weeks, just come back to UK after living in NZ for 3 years. So need to catch up the people and family all over this fair land.
4 - and believe it a good idea to start as i mean to go on, I normally service my own cars but tools are in transit from New Zealand.

Try changing spark plugs on a V6 Mitsubishi gallant 2.5 ( it took me about 3 hours ) and the skin off my knuckles.
