Default The V6 Holy Grail... Almost...

Well, for whatever reason my Signum decided to be exceptionally economical on this tank, although it has done 90% of it cruising at 70mph. This tank was BP Ultimate Diesel, together with 250ml of 2-stroke motor oil to help lubricate the fuel pump.

In this picture the fuel light is flashing, and it caught it when it was off. The ignition is on and the needle will drop a little when turned off, so it clearly thinks there's still some left in the tank...

The range counter dropped to zero about 20 miles ago, but from experience this leaves about 5 litres left in the tank...

The board screen is a bit misleading however. I had to jump the car yesterday for some reason, and whatever charge was left wasn't enough to keep the figures stored, except for the average mpg... Even with the battery disconnected, this remains stored...

The question is, can I get to 600 without it running out of fuel...?

There's a BP station right outside camp about a mile away, then the next one is 15 miles down the road towards Oxford...

    Decisions, decisions...

Frankly no, you don't want to run it any longer with next to no fuel in.

Running out of diesel is a real problem that might well not be solved by merely putting more diesel in.

When the speed limit is reduced to 50mph on motorways, or the entire road network is one giant roadwork...

    Hi,
Took mine to Bristol last week, drove 15 miles of mainly town driving to drop kids off, then straight down the M5, M4, M32, can't remember the mileage, but avg mpg for whole trip was 45.4mpg, I was impressed. Was pretty much on cruise control at 75mph for whole journey.

and its an automatic, if that helps.

i know mine is not a v6 but last tank in my 1.9 150 i got 540 miles and gauge was still just above red. no silly eco driving just a lot of motorway at around 70-80 + some city in the mix with climate control etc etc on all the time. eco drive down the motorway at 60 i recon i could do 800 or near enough.

oh i did have diesel redex in aswell which i find tends to help on the mpg front.
