    Default Climate control failure

    Hi,
I was happily driving along yesterday in my 2007 Vectra 2.2 Elite, then all of a sudden my climate control totally died on me. It was set on 'Auto' as per usual when it gave up. Now, none of the 4 buttons on the climate console are lighting up when I press them, and the large round central knob is doing nothing. There are no readings at all for the climate control on my informaton display.
I thought it may be a blown fuse, so I have checked those from looking in my manual, but all seem ok.
Could any members please offer any advice or suggestions as to anything else I could check or what the fault/remedy may be and approx costs to fix. I don't know much about cars to be honest, but am willing to check what I can if possible before making what I fear may be an expensive trip to the dealer!!
    Thanks.

Remove the climate control panel and check for power and earth at the multi-plug on the back. If power is there, then it could be that the climate control panel will need replacing.

It just prises out, shove a flathead screwdriver in where it meets the console (and this is the official Vauxhall method of doing it btw).

or remove the tray just above the cigarette lighter/12v socket (just pulls out) and you will be able to just pull it out without leaving any screwdriver marks as well

You won't leave any screwdriver marks unless you take a crowbar to it (the console is rubbery and it only needs a quick tweak).

This is the way that TIS tells you to remove it.

Got it out of the centre console no problem, but I am a bit daunted by the size of those two multi plug connectors!
Can anyone please advise step by step how I can tell if the control unit is at fault. There are a couple for sale on ebay, but i don't want to buy one if it is something else that is wrong. I do have a multi- meter, but I have no experience of electrics, so an idiots guide as it were would be very helpful!
    Thanks in advance.

If the plugs are tight, and there are no lights on, and nothing on the screen, either there is no power getting to the module (must be a fuse?) or it's blown.

I can't think of anything else it could be.
