inlet manifold

afternoon guys,
just a quicky, i recleaned the boost sensor this afternoon, and tried to clean some crud out of the manifold whilst the sensor was out. one of the longer match sticks did pull out some black much, similar to that thats around the manifold where the throttle body fits. question is cleaning the manifold, is it possible and if so difficult, or is there a cleaning liquid that could do it ??????????
any help would be welcome thanks

do yeah know what signum , ive often thought about doing this job myself , but unsure if i would actually cause any damage by squirting carb cleaner through the boost sensor hole and were the EGR sits on the manifold , would like a second opinion myself mate ..
